Comprehensive reading of medical terms is relevant to a successful learning process. One of the strategies to achieve this is the knowledge and learning of the Latin and Greek root of words. The aim of the present work was to investigate the meaning and evolution of the Greek lexeme plasma πλασμα, and to analyze the Terminologia Histologica in relation to a group of histological terms derived from this lexeme.
